The Nun with the Pin

Back to Horror Stories

“You asked for teaching techniques which can harm — here’s a good one: I’ve been teaching almost 40 years. One of my students during those first years told me that before I arrived on the scene he was taking from the previous teacher, who happened to be a nun. She would place a straight pin — POINT UP — under his wrist, so that when he dropped his wrists in playing, he would get stabbed! Can you imagine a more cruel way to teach “wrists up”? Though I well remember telling this story to a few students who dropped their wrists habitually, and all of them wanted to try it! (I never did.)”
